My wife has been here in the USA since July 05. We were married in September 2005. When we applied for her Green Card we submitted all evidence of our marriage. Her Green Card was sent with her maiden name. This hasn't been a problem until now. We purchased a new home and did it in both of our names for evidence of our relationship. We were told that when we file to have the conditions removed of permanent residence that this would be helpful. The problem now is that she can't get a South Carolina ID. She needs this or she will be charged as a non resident for the taxes on our home. It would cost us $370 to have her alien card replaced with her married name. It expires next May and we soon will be filing the forms to have the conditions removed. Why would they send the Green Card in her maiden name when they had evidence of it being changed? Any suggestions from anyone that may have gone down this road before?
